No Game, No Pics

So the Cubs game was postponed until September. I heard on the radio it was September 3rd which is a thursday and so I am hoping to still go then. I am not sure how it will work out because Amanda will be back in school then, but hopefully we both can go. Anyway, no game, no pics.

Sorry...

Crazy Weekend...Crazy AWESOME!

HEY!
This weekend was a little non-stop for us, but a lot of fun things happened!
First, Bryson is progressing in his walking. For Christmas my sister and future brother-in-law got Bry a car thing and he has used it to push and walk. I think it will help a lot! Also what will help is another little car thing that the Hortons let us borrow. Its a perfect toy to help Bry with learning how to move his feet. He walks pretty good when he holds on to us and his record steps at the moment are at 3 unassisted steps.
Second, Bryson got his first and not last taste of dirt. I was a little slow getting to him and when I went into his mouth with my finger, I pulled out mud! On the bright side, good iron in dirt right?!?!
Third, Friday Amanda got to hang out with some college friends we have not seen in a long time. I had to watch some boys which was fine with me. However, on Amanda's way home she told me that we had been offered some free tickets to tonight's Cubs game verses the White Sox. She even had the nerve to ask me if we wanted to go. Well, it took me a little less than half a second to answer.
Fourth, Saturday was an all day affair for us. We had morning breakfast with my parents. We had been trying to get together with them before we leave on vacation and we were able to squeeze that in. Hopefully we will get one more visit in before we leave this Saturday as well. Also, speaking of my parents, it is their 30th wedding anniversary today and I want to say congrats, love you, and thank you for being such great examples to me on how to be husband and wife, and mom and dad. I have always felt so loved, respected and appreciated by you and I could never ask for better parents. Happy 30 years! Anyway, back to last Saturday, right after Bry's morning nap, we headed out to the Hortons for some grilling! It was a fun time and good to see them again. Pretty soon we will all be off from school and there will be a lot more posts of us going to see them and swim in their pool!
Fifth, Sunday we had a 1 year birthday party to go to. It was fun and we got some ideas for our own 1 year old birthday party coming up. Then it was outside day. This was really fun because the whole family, including Amanda's, was outside working or hanging out. We set up Brysons car and pushed him around. We found a tiny pool and let Bry swim for a while and then Amanda and I even mowed the lawn! It has been a long time since I have done that and this time I did it with a riding lawn mower! It was awesome! I'll do it every time if I can use that! it was a perfect summer day and we all got a lot done on the house to make it look pretty!

That was our weekend, check back later for some Cubs pics! Rain is threatening the game tonight but after surveying the radar, I am thinking (and hoping) it blows through before the game starts!

Ha Ha....yeah

HOLA

Welcome to day 2 of summer vacation! Amanda and I finished our school years on Tuesday and have been looking forward to this for a long time. Plans for the summer include vacation, running, hopefully a half marathon, and watching Bry grow up!

We sat down with the family a few days ago and discussed the upcoming vacation. My main concern was to figure out what our financial needs were in order to budget ourselves for it. After looking at different options and events we wanted to do, I had an idea of what we needed and it was going to make things tight. I enjoy very much being able to splurge a little while on vacations. I want my vacations to be just that. I want them to be relaxing and energizing. However, after looking at our financial responsibilities, we could have done all those things, but, but it would have made the rest of the summer unstable.

This is where, I believe, God played his hand. A few weeks ago at Willow Creek Community Church we heard a sermon about giving. Not just money, but time and talents. The thought that stuck with me from that Sunday was that giving should be a sacrifice of our time, money or whatever else. Alot of times we give what fits into our budget or day, but does not disrupt our plans. Well, making a true sacrifice has to put a wrinkle into our plans or our budget. So with that thought, we have been tithing as much as we could. Sometimes this meant putting things on the credit card that we HAD to get, mainly like food for Bryson. This has meant not going out to eat, even though we could not find anything or were too lazy to make something. This has meant not driving anywhere because we just do not have gas money for a while. It made things uncomfortable and it increased our stress level a little, but it also increased our reliance on the one thing that we could put everything on, GOD.

So, getting back to the vacation, it was looking like the fun, relaxing, splurge a little vacation was not going to happen. We would still go, but with a very tight and closed budget. This is when God played his Ace of Spades, the highest trump card (if your playing Spades, which I plan on doing with God when I get there by the way...). We get a call asking if we would be interested in an opportunity before we leave. As small as this example is, I truly think God has rewarded us for being faithful and sacrificing for Him. Also, our credit card bill is lower than it has been in a long time and, financially, things are turning up for us. Thank you God!

Quickly, our goal is to run the Chicago half marathon in September. We have a long way to go in preparing for it, but Amanda has great self-motivation which turns into motivation for me. I recently ran 6 miles and it was a task! Amanda is also quickly improving on her distance as well. It would be so awesome to cross that finish line with my wife right next to me!

Also, this summer will be the first time since Bry was born that we will all be together day in and day out. We are looking forward to firming our family identity as it develops. It is constantly changing as Bry's personality becomes more defined and especially he develops physically. He has taken a couple pseudo-steps and VERY soon will be walking like he has been doing it for years. We have the camera on hand in case anything goes down.

Well, in case I don't see ya..

Good afternoon,

Good evening,

This is what happens when you...

1. Finish all your homework and have nothing else to do.
2. Have too much time on your hands.
3. Enjoy playing around with pics!
4. Have about 2 1/2 hours to kill while the kid takes a nap.

The sun turned different colors on this day
This time it was blue
Then the sun became a spotlight!

This one is just funny!

Thats all. I have way too much fun playing around with exposures and temperatures and other things. I think its pretty cool. Especially because its my two favorite people ever!
